Year 7 Sports Leader Training

This year, over 230 students applied to be part of the Sports Leader Team at Paignton Academy, which is more applications than ever before!

The students take responsibility for running 20 Primary Sports Festivals across the year, which helps them to improve their leadership skills. They all access preparation training to equip them with the knowledge required to run their festivals, which can involve up to 270 Primary Children per event.

During Term 1, Year 7 Sports Leaders had the opportunity to follow a 4-week accredited training course. The course focused on developing five skills: Self Belief, Communication, Teamwork, Self-Management and Problem Solving.

Mr Julyan led the training with support from Torbay's School Games Organiser, Mrs White. All students that successfully completed the course will receive their certificates later this term
